  Caption is a short text above or below an image in a book, magazine, or newspaper that describes the image or explains what the person in it did or said. Caption social function  Captions have a social function, namely to provide basic information about an object. Even though it's short, writing a caption can't be arbitrary. It takes language that is interesting but still informative so that what is in the picture can be conveyed properly. Characteristics of Explanation Text : 1. Using the Simple Present Tense The use of the simple present tense is because the explanation text contains the facts of an event or action. 2. Using Passive Voice In an explanation text there must be a passive voice sentence. Why? because this text aims to explain an event or action (object) rather than the subject 3. Using Chronological Connectors Almost all text uses chronological connectors. Chronological example connectors: First Second After that Next Then Finally etc. 4.
