A. meaning of news items

News Item Text is a type of writing that provides up-to-date information about events that are important to report. News Item Text aims to provide information to readers or listeners. Usually, News Item Text provides information that is the most recent event.   

B. News Item Text Structure 

There are three important structures that you should pay attention to if you want to create posts with news item text. Among others are:

1. Newsworthy event

This section can also be referred to as the main event or the main event that you want to write in a text. Usually, information in the form of events or events is in the form of a summary with an easy-to-understand core.

2. Background event

Background event or the background of an event must be written as clearly as possible in a news. The background must have 5W + 1H to make it easier for readers to understand the context of the writing.

Don't let you confuse readers with incomplete backgrounds and even make the writing not newsworthy

3. Source

Is a source that you need to include in an article. In writing a source you must pay attention to the authenticity or validity of the source.

Sources can be taken from scientific journals, eyewitnesses, or published expert opinions

D. Format in News Item Text

•  Focus on the point. Do not let long-winded writing that will actually eliminate an important part of a news. Try to write in good and correct language and easy to understand.

• Usually uses quotes from sources. Such as: informed, told, reported, “….” he stated, and others.

• Get in the habit of telling the name of the place where an event takes place at the beginning of the sentence. For example: Bekasi, Jakarta, and others

• Usually, the grammar used in writing news is past tense because the news usually has already happened. If it is still ongoing, you can write it in the present tense.

• Try to write short, concise, and clear, especially in the headline.

                    Nepal Rescuers Find 3 Bodies Near Crashed US Marine

        Nepalese rescuers on Friday found three bodies near the wreckage of a U.S. Marine helicopter that disappeared earlier this week while on a relief mission in the earthquake-hit Himalayan nation, officials said. Nepal’s Defense Secretary Iswori Poudyal gave no details about the nationalities of the victims. The helicopter was carrying six Marines and two Nepalese army soldiers. The wreckage was found near Gothali village in the district of Dolakha. The U.S. Embassy in Nepal had no immediate comment Friday.

        The discovery of the wreckage, first spotted by a Nepalese army helicopter Friday, followed days of intense search involving U.S. and Nepalese aircraft and even U.S. satellites. The U.S. relief mission was deployed soon after a magnitude-7.8 quake hit April 25, killing more than 8,200 people. It was followed by another magnitude-7.3 quake on Tuesday that killed 117 people and injured 2,800. The second quake was centered between Kathmandu and Mount Everest, and hit hardest in deeply rural parts of the Himalayan foothills, hammering many villages reached only by hiking trails and causing road-blocking landslides.
